Why Hire A Professional?

Time · Money · Safety · Quality

Time

A professional painting contractor saves time. Any business or homeowner who has ever started a simple do-it-yourself painting project understands the challenges of getting the job done on time. There are always extra trips to the paint store for supplies. It is difficult to accurately estimate the time required to properly prepare the project area. And, there is always the unanticipated time required for touch-ups and repair. Hire a professional painting contractor, then schedule more important – and more fun – things to do with your valuable time.

Money

A professional painting contractor saves money. Every do-it-yourself project ends up costing more than the original budget. Whether it's underestimating total paint needs, adding in the cost of clean-up, or all the other unanticipated expenses that come up, don't put the additional strain on your wallet. Hire a professional painting contractor that knows the right product and has the right tools to complete the job on time.

Safety

A professional painting contractor knows safety. Every painting project requires attention to safety. There are common hazards on every paint project site that could cause injury and job-time losses, and may even affect your income. Most insurance requires a deductible, so any accident will increase the cost of the project. Hire a professional painting contractor who is trained on the most up-to-date safety rules to limit the possibility of accidents and reduce your exposure. Why put your personal safety at risk?

Quality

A professional painting contractor delivers quality. The choices today are more complicated than just oil or latex. Most do-it-yourselfers don't have the industry knowledge to know what works, how to use it, or have the right tools for the job. Details such as surface prep, paint application and a material's long-term durability often get overlooked. The use of high quality products is as important as excellence in paint application. Hire a professional painting contractor who is educated on all of the different aspects of any painting project helps eliminate surprises and ensures you have a finished product you can be proud of.

BROWNIE POINTS: KEEP ROOM FROM GETTING STUCK IN NEUTRAL

Monday 14th of November 2011 11:33:15 AM

When HGTV's "Divine Design" host sits down with homeowners and asks what color scheme appeals to them, brown is half of their answer more than 90 percent of the time, often paired with a cool blue.

"My producers hear that scheme and they start to shake in their boots," said Candice Olson, the Toronto-based interior designer who also is a judge on HGTV's "Design Star."

Grace Bonney, founder of the popular Design*Sponge blog, has a similar adverse reaction.

"I hate safe color choices like eggshell blue and brown," Bonney said on a tour stop for her new book "Design*Sponge at Home" (Artisan Books, $35). "To me, that combination feels really specifically dated to the late 1990s and early 2000s."

In recent years gray has usurped brown as the cooler neutral, in more ways than one.

"It isn't that rich chocolately brown that it was a few years ago; it's more the color of sun-weathered wood, driftwood," Olson said.

Still, Roman interior designer Stefano Dorata, whose vision is featured on the cover of the book "Andrew Martin Interior Design Review" (TeNeues, $65), prefers brown tones to grays for a living room.

"They are warmer and they connect me with nature," he said. "They are the colors of earth, of wood and some stones."

He and other design experts assure brown loyalists that a room steeped in tobacco, whiskey, chocolate, cognac and nutmeg can look current, with or without blues. Here, some tips on how.
